The Bear Valley Community HealthCare District Foundation was formed in December, 1996 as an ongoing source of fundraising and public relations for the HealthCare District. The primary focus of the Foundation is to serve as a conduit for funds to improve our local non-profit HealthCare District as it strives to provide more comprehensive medical care and emergency-based services for the Big Bear Valley. I am named for a little girl named Emily Segal. Emily suffered a serious skiing accident and her family believes that I was partly responsible for her miraculous recovery. Emily takes me to school with her every day!

The Foundation is raising funds to buy other bears (just like me) to give to children who have come to our hospital because they are very sick. I am very cuddly and I am anxious to comfort a friend. I cost about $15.00. I am not fuzzy, my eyes are painted on, and I come with a non-toxic pen so I can be autographed by the Doctors and Nurses who help my friend to get well!
